Warriors Claim Eleventh Team Title at Collegiate Nationals

ATLANTA, Ga. – Midland University excelled at the 2024 USA Powerlifting Collegiate Nationals, securing a national title in the equipped division and a runner-up finish in the raw division. The Warriors had seven lifters earn individual titles while five others were runners-up. The title is the fifth equipped title in a row for Midland and the 11th men's national title in program history.

In the equipped division, Braden Watson, Rogelio Barrera, Vincent Huerta, and Ray Bowring claimed individual titles. Watson dominated the 52kg class with a total lift of 422.5kg, while Barrera won the 75kg class with a total of 740kg. Huerta topped the 140kg class with 970kg, and Bowring led the 140+kg category with 1,115kg. Angel Martinez, Brady Price, Peyton Mitties, and Micaiah Loop secured runner-up positions in their respective classes.

In the raw division, Felipe Garza, Chase Chapa, and Sean Koch secured individual titles for the Warriors. Garza won the 52kg class with a total lift of 456.5kg, Chapa dominated the 60kg class with 585.5kg, and Koch led the 140+kg category with 978.5kg. CJ Shuford also secured a runner-up position in the 67.5kg class.

Midland led the equipped division with 75 points, surpassing Blue Mountain Christian University's 72 points. In the raw division, they finished second with 58 points, trailing behind the University of Texas-San Antonio, who claimed the title with 67 points.
