Warriors Wrap Up Season at NAIA Outdoor Nationals

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Midland University concluded its season this week, competing at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Asheville, North Carolina. The Warriors had one individual qualifier along with a relay team on the men's side. The meet featured more than 100 teams from across the country.

Koen Steenblok finished 13th in the 800-meter preliminaries and set a new personal-best time of 1:51.07. The performance placed him 22nd in the event.

The quartet of Koen Steenblok, Braden Taylor, Christen Olsen, and Lucas Hjortkjaer placed 18th in the 4x800-meter relay preliminaries with a time of 7:37.83.

"Every athlete and relay finished higher than they were seeded, which speaks to how well they competed," said head coach Daniel Gerber.

The University of the Cumberlands won the men's team title with a commanding 79 points. Indiana Tech edged out St. Thomas University, 49.2 points to 49 points, to round out the top three team placings.
