Midland Records Multiple Top-10 Finishes at Bronco Invite
HASTINGS, Neb. — Midland University battled windy and overcast conditions on Saturday while competing at the Bronco Invitational, hosted by Hastings College. Despite the challenging weather, the Warriors recorded a strong showing with multiple top-10 finishes across the meet.
Leading the way for Midland in the field events, Caleb Wagner placed second in the hammer throw with a mark of 50.06 meters, while Federico Migliano followed closely in third at 50.03 meters. In the high jump, Jonathan Edberg cleared 1.92 meters to secure a third-place finish.
On the track, Jameson Painter turned in a pair of top-six finishes, placing fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 21.81 seconds and sixth in the 100 meters at 11.08 seconds. Midland also saw success in the 800 meters, where Braden Taylor placed fourth in 1:59.71, and Christian Olsen finished sixth in 2:02.65.
Marcos Riano contributed in multiple events, finishing fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 18.13 seconds while also placing eighth in the javelin with a throw of 38.80 meters.
The Warriors' 4x100-meter relay team of Ja'Myri Bernard, Jameson Painter, Jason Jeffers, and Aiden Mountain highlighted the day on the track with a runner-up finish, clocking in at 43.48 seconds.
Additionally, a pair of Warriors competed in the Grizzly Gold Invite in Eldorado, Kansas. Koen Steenblok placed third in the 800m with a new school record time of 1:52.26. Lucas Hjortkjaer placed fifth in the 1500m with a time of 3:57.10.
Midland will be back in action next weekend when it sends a group of athletes to compete in the Loper Invitational in Kearney, Nebraska, on Saturday, April 18.
