Warriors Deliver Balanced Effort at Monday Meet
SEWARD, Neb. — Midland University traveled to Seward on Monday to compete in the Concordia Invite. The Warriors turned in a strong performance at Bulldog Stadium, with several athletes recording top-10 finishes.
Federico Migliano opened the meet for Midland with an eighth-place finish in the hammer throw, posting a mark of 50.53 meters.
Midland had two top-10 finishers in the javelin throw, as Josiah Meyer placed third with a mark of 46.85 meters and Jonathan Edberg finished eighth at 42.41 meters.
Aiden Mountain added a seventh-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 6.39 meters.
Edberg recorded his second top-10 finish of the day in the high jump, clearing 1.89 meters to place fourth. Brendan Walton followed with a ninth-place finish at 1.79 meters.
In the 10,000-meter run, Victor Vizcaino Fernandez (34:15.18) and Jorge Vizcaino Fernandez (34:16.15) placed sixth and seventh, respectively.
Jason Jeffers (11.05) and Mountain (11.09) placed sixth and eighth in the 100-meter dash prelims before finishing seventh and eighth, respectively, in the finals.
Brendan Taylor continued the strong showing with an eighth-place finish in the 800-meter run, clocking in at 1:59.36.
In the 400-meter dash, Koen Steenblok (51.70) and Ja'Myri Bernard (51.94) placed fourth and fifth, while Chris Medlock (52.52) finished ninth.
Lucas Hjortkjaer led the field in the 1,500-meter run, claiming first place with a time of 4:03.39.
Jameson Painter added another victory for the Warriors, winning the 200-meter dash in 22.01. Bernard also competed in the event, placing fourth with a time of 22.88.
"We had a lot of strong showings on the track, with a lot of athletes stepping out of their event comfort zone and finding success," head coach Daniel Gerber said.
Midland will return to action on April 10 at the Bronco Invite in Hastings.
