Warriors Shine at Concordia Classic with Multiple Top-10 Finishes

SEWARD, Neb. — Midland University returned to the oval Friday and Saturday, competing at the Concordia Classic in Seward. Hosted by Concordia University in the Walz Fieldhouse, the meet featured 15 schools, including Briar Cliff, Concordia, Dakota Wesleyan, Doane, Hastings, Morningside, Mount Marty and Northwestern, all members of the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).

Following standout performances across events, two Warriors secured top-10 finishes in the heptathlon. Mel-Lucas Mosetter (4,156 points) placed third, while Marcos Riano Aransay (3,417 points) finished 10th. Mosetter's performance ranks fourth all-time in Midland program history.

Ja'Myri Bernard advanced to the 60-meter finals after placing seventh in the prelims with a time of 7.10 seconds and finished fifth in the final with a time of 7.09.

In the high jump, Jonathan Edberg placed second with a jump of 1.94 meters.

Braden Taylor finished 10th in the 1-mile run with a time of 4:31.46, while Christian Olsen placed eighth in the 800-meter at 2:02.44.

Four Warriors finished in the top 10 of the 600-meter run. Lucas Hjortkjaer led the field with a first-place time of 1:22.63, followed closely by Koen Steenblok in second at 1:22.82. Chris Medlock (1:24.31) and Noah Sherman (1:24.83) placed fourth and seventh, respectively. Hjortkjaer and Steenblok now rank ninth and 10th all-time in Midland program history.

Medlock also earned a top-10 finish in the 400-meter, placing sixth at 51.37.

Jameson Painter recorded a top-10 finish in the 200-meter, placing eighth with a time of 22.90.

Midland will travel to Wayne, Nebraska, Friday, Feb. 6, for the Wildcat Classic. Start time for the meet is to be announced.
