Midland Competes at Coach Richard Alsup Open, Posts Multiple Top-10 Finishes
MARYVILLE, Mo. — Midland University returned to action Saturday at the Coach Richard Alsup Open in Maryville, Missouri. Hosted at Hughes Fieldhouse on the campus of Northwest Missouri State University, the meet featured teams from Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois, and Oklahoma.
In the 200 meters, Ja'Myri Bernard finished 13th with a time of 22.67.
Chris Medlock placed 13th in the 600-yard event, clocking a time of 1:17.74. Raheem Richards followed closely behind, finishing 15th with a time of 1:17.92.
Continuing their strong seasons, Lucas Hjortkjaer and Koen Steenblok secured fourth and sixth place, respectively, in the event. Hjortkjaer recorded a time of 1:53.81, while Steenblok finished in 1:54.40.
Jonathan Edberg posted two top-10 finishes on the day. He placed sixth in the high jump with a mark of 1.88 meters and followed with a seventh-place finish in the triple jump, recording a distance of 12.89 meters.
Up next, Midland will travel to Ames, Iowa, on Jan. 23 to compete in the Cyclone Open. The start time is to be announced.
