Ten Warriors Earn All-Conference Honors

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Honors for the 2023 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Indoor Track and Field Season have been announced by the conference office. Midland University saw ten student-athletes earn All-GPAC honors by finishing in the Top 8 at the GPAC Indoor Track & Field Championships meet.

Additionally, the top Track and Field Performances-of-the-Meet and the Coach-of-the-Year honors were announced. Those awards are voted on by the league coaches while the GPAC Athlete-of-the-Meet honors went to the highest individual point scorers in the meet.

Dylan Kucera, a senior from Fremont, Nebraska, earned the top Male Field Performance. He won the men's shot put for the third straight season and did so with a new championship record throw (18.61m). He also placed second in the weight throw.

Outstanding Performances of the Meet were:

  • Women's Track – Annika Pingel, Doane – 600 meters
  • Women's Field – Allison Skala, Doane – Shot Put
  • Men's Track – Trey Engen, Dordt – Mile
  • Men's Field – Dylan Kucera, Midland – Shot Put

Adrianna Rodencal from Concordia was named the Female GPAC Athlete-of-the-Meet scoring 28 points. Payton Mauldin from Dordt was named the Male GPAC Athlete-of-the-Meet scoring 30 points. Both will be honored as the Hauff Mid-America Sports GPAC Indoor Track and Field Athletes-of-the-Year.

Matt Beisel and the Concordia staff have been named the Jim McMahon - Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Women's Indoor Coach/Program-of-the-Year. The Bulldogs won the women's title on Saturday with 241.5 points.

Craig Heynen and the Dordt staff have been named the Fred Beile - Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Men's Coach/Program-of-the-Year. The Defenders won the men's title on Saturday with 204.5 points.
