Warriors Fall in Road GPAC Contest at Concordia
SEWARD, Neb. — Midland University traveled to Seward on Wednesday for a Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) dual against Concordia University, where the Bulldogs swept the Warriors, 7-0.
Concordia took control early by sweeping all three doubles matches. Midland's top pairing of Martin Cisneros and Zhanxing Yu put together the most competitive showing, falling 7-5 at No. 1 doubles. The Bulldogs secured the doubles point with decisive wins at No. 2 and No. 3.
In singles play, Concordia continued its momentum, winning all six matches in straight sets. Cisneros battled at No. 1 singles but fell 6-2, 6-3, while Zhanxing Yu pushed his match at No. 3, dropping a tightly contested first set 7-6 before falling 6-3 in the second.
The Bulldogs also earned straight-set victories at Nos. 2, 4, 5, and 6 singles to complete the sweep.
Midland (5-11, 2-1 GPAC) will look to bounce back from its first conference loss next week. The Warriors will host Doane on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. The matchup is the final home date and will serve as Senior Day for the Warriors. Action gets underway at 1:00 p.m. at the Fremont High Tennis Courts.
