(RV) Warriors Blank Concordia in Third GPAC Win
FREMONT, Neb. - Midland University came back home for its match against Concordia University at the Fremont YMCA on Friday afternoon. The Warriors controlled the Bulldogs from the start taking the win 7-0 in their third conference matchup. Midland stays undefeated at 3-0 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and moves to 11-7 for its overall record. Concordia steps down to 2-3 in the conference and 10-8 on the season.
Nunzio Theil and Ryosei Masuda at No. 3s won with pace over Santiago Abadia and Eduardo Rojas 6-2 in their doubles set. No. 1s Joren Stevens and Ben Starman won 7-6 (8-6 Tiebreak) over Hugo Fuentes and Juan Rabellino sealing the doubles point for MU.
No. 2 Starman dominated Abadia 6-0, 6-1 for the first singles win with No. 4 Nathen Bitzer defeating Rodriguez 6-0, 6-2 moving his record to 5-1 (singles) this season.
Arthur Hernandes at No. 6 won in straight sets (6-2, 6-3) over Shawn Springer with the Warriors taking the team win and claiming the fourth point. No. 5 Tycho Janssen and No. 1 Masuda garnered two-set wins over Van Haaren (6-2, 7-6) and Fuentes (6-2, 7-6) driving the Warriors to 6 points on the Bulldogs.
Thiel at No. 3 had a three-set comeback over Rojas losing a close one (5-7) in the first set but running away with the second and third set (6-1, 10-5) leaving the Bulldogs with no earned points.
Midland (11-7, 3-0 GPAC) will travel to Hastings (1-11, 0-4 GPAC) this Wednesday, April 19. They are set to start at noon in Hastings, Nebraska as the Warriors look to win their third straight against the Broncos.
