Warriors Pick Up Second Win of the Weekend Versus Nebraska Wesleyan
FREMONT, Neb. – Midland University hosted its second match over the weekend with Nebraska Wesleyan University taking the opposite side of the net inside the Fremont YMCA on Saturday. The Warriors never conceded a point once again as they silenced the Prairie Wolves 7-0 in a non-conference match. Midland moves another step away from .500 at 9-7 overall while NWU remains winless at 0-3 this season.
In doubles play, Andrew Hammer and Josiah Brejda nailed Max Rademacher and Daniel Bernhardson 6-3 in their set while sealing the point Kade Schrock and Mateo Gomez made quick work of Connor Kelley and Tanner Klahn with a 6-1 victory.
No. 4, 5, & 6 seeds for Midland didn't give up a game in their two-set sweeps of Nebraska Wesleyan. Luca Struffi defeated Bernhardson, Nathen Bitzer defeated Kelley, and Tycho Janssen blanked Klahn.
No. 1 Benjamin Starman took victory over Ryan Carey (6-0, 6-2) while not far behind No. 3 Nunzio Thiel defeated Rademacher (6-3, 6-0) giving the Warriors 6 points.
No. 2 Ryosei Masuda completed the sweep over Will Olson in two sets, winning 6-3, 6-2.
Midland (9-7) is scheduled to host Grand View (1-3) in their first match at Fremont High School on April 7. First service is set for 3:00 p.m. on Friday as the Warriors look for their third win in a row.
