Warriors Earn Multiple Titles at KCAC Championships
HOBART, Ind. – Midland University traveled to Hobart, Indiana, this past week to compete in the KCAC Swimming Championships, which began Wednesday, Feb. 4, and concluded Saturday, Feb. 7. The Warriors placed third overall out of eight teams on the men's side and seventh out of nine teams on the women's side.
On the men's side, Midland earned two KCAC relay championships, winning the 400-yard medley relay and setting a new meet record in the 800-yard freestyle relay. Martin Sener, Radek Ruzicka, Tichatonga Makaya, and Nacho Molina led the way in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:23.40, while Jonathan Tammam, Manuel Tomm, Sener, and Molina set a KCAC championship meet record in the 800 freestyle with a time of 6:48.86.
The Warriors also reached the podium in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as Sener, Jasper Mpofu, Wyatt Aumiller, and Molina earned bronze with a time of 1:24.46. Midland added another third-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay, with Tomm, Sener, Aumiller, and Molina finishing in 3:05.87.
Individually, the Warriors recorded 10 podium finishes, including four KCAC championships. Tomm became the second straight Midland swimmer to win the 400-yard individual medley, following Jeremi Aubin's victory last season. Tomm won the event by more than six seconds with a time of 4:05.42, setting new KCAC and Midland records. He also secured gold in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:03.49) and silver in the 200-yard individual medley (1:52.80).
Molina earned the title of fastest man in the conference after winning the KCAC championship in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 20.85 seconds. He also placed second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:43.39.
The final gold medal came on the last night of the meet, when Sener finished first in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:50.58, edging the next finisher by 0.42 seconds. Sener also earned bronze earlier in the week in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing in 50.93 seconds.
Midland rounded out the meet with three additional bronze finishes. Tammam placed third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:48.81, while Ruzicka finished third in the 100-yard breaststroke at 57.42 seconds. The final podium finish for the Warriors came in the 1,650-yard freestyle, where Artur Arent recorded a time of 16:39.44, finishing less than two seconds behind second place.
On the women's side, the Warriors competed in four relays, with their best finish coming in the 200-yard medley relay. Brisa Mills, Quinty Rouschop, Theresa Nyhuis, and Aria Feit posted a time of 1:54.86.
Individually, two Midland swimmers qualified for A finals and finished in the top eight. Rouschop placed eighth in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:20.96 before earning a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:27.37). Mills also recorded a top-eight finish, placing eighth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.41.
The Warriors will now shift their focus to the 2026 NAIA Swimming and Diving Championships, scheduled for March 4–7 at the Elkhart Aquatics Center in Elkhart, Indiana.
