Warriors Compete in Pair of Meets at Kearney
KEARNEY, Neb. — Midland University returned to the pool on Friday and Saturday for the two-day Kearney Invitational, where the Warriors competed in a distance meet on Friday and a sprint meet on Saturday. The Midland men won the distance meet, earning one gold, three silver, and four bronze medals. They then placed third in the sprint meet with one second-place and one third-place finish.
Overall, the Warriors recorded 10 podium finishes, along with seven fourth-place, five fifth-place, and six sixth-place results. Martin Sener picked up the team's lone first-place finish of the weekend, winning the 200-yard backstroke on Friday with a time of 1 minute, 54.60 seconds. His teammates — Reece Gray, Jonathan Tammam, and Jasper Mpofu — followed closely behind, finishing second, third, and fourth, respectively. After winning the preliminaries, Sener also earned a runner-up finish in the 100-yard backstroke on Saturday with a time of 52.31, just 1.59 seconds behind first.
Artur Arent earned a pair of second-place finishes in Friday's distance meet. He first took silver in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:21.39, then added another in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a 17:11.70.
Gonzalo Rojas captured Midland's final individual podium finish, placing third in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:00.00. Midland also claimed a pair of third-place relay finishes, earning bronze in both the 400-yard medley relay on Friday and the 200-yard medley relay on Saturday. Both relay teams featured Sener, Radek Ruzicka, Tammam, and Wyatt Aumiller.
On the women's side, Midland finished eighth in Friday's distance meet before improving to sixth in Saturday's sprint events. The Warriors earned three top-15 finishes on Saturday. Brisa Mills placed 12th in the 100-yard freestyle (57.99) and 15th in the 100-yard backstroke (1:05.79), while Aria Feit finished 15th in the 500-yard freestyle (5:41.43).
The Warriors will return to action on Nov. 15, when they host a dual against Morningside at the Dillon Family Aquatic Center in Fremont.
