Midland Dominates Dual, Captures 14 Golds at Home

FREMONT, Neb. — Midland University returned to the pool on Saturday to compete in a dual meet against the University of Minnesota Morris. The Warriors dominated, finishing first in all 14 men's events in which they had a competitor and winning the dual by a score of 206–67, earning 14 golds, 12 silvers, and eight bronzes.

Eight different Warriors earned gold in an event, with four capturing multiple victories. Artur Arent placed first in both the 1,000- and 500-yard freestyle events, finishing in 10:07.35 and 4:57.37, respectively. In the shorter distances, Jonathan Tammam won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:47.04, while Nacho Molina claimed victories in the 100- and 50-yard freestyle with times of 48.04 and 21.67 seconds.

Redek Ruzicka earned two first-place finishes in the breaststroke, winning the 100-yard event in 58.43 seconds and the 200-yard event in 2:10.82. Martin Sener swept the backstroke events, taking the 200- and 100-yard races in 1:54.21 and 52.03 seconds, respectively.

Rounding out the individual event winners for the Warriors, Gonzo Rojas won the 200-yard butterfly in 2:00.29, Tich Makaya won the 100-yard butterfly in 53.22 seconds, and Reece Gray captured the 200-yard individual medley in 2:02.14.

Midland also won both relay events. Sener, Ruzicka, Makaya, and Molina took the 200-yard medley relay to open the dual, while Wyatt Aumiller, Molina, Sener, and Tammam closed the meet with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The only event Midland did not win was the 1-meter diving competition, in which the team did not have a competitor.

The Warriors will continue their season on Nov. 7–8, traveling to Kearney, Nebraska, to compete in the Kearney Invitational.
