UPLAND, Ind. – Midland University traveled to Upland, Indiana, on Thursday for a nonconference matchup against Taylor University. The Trojans dominated early, handing the Warriors a tough 14-2 defeat.
Taylor jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first quarter and continued its offensive surge in the second, extending the advantage to 8-0. Carson Meier put Midland on the board just before halftime, scoring with 1:31 left in the half to make it 8-1.
The Trojans maintained their momentum after the break, adding three more goals in the third quarter to widen the gap to 11-1. Tanner Jamison ended Midland's scoring drought with an unassisted goal at the 1:39 mark, but Taylor tacked on three goals in the fourth to secure the 14-2 win. The Trojans outshot the Warriors 53-12.
In goal for Midland, Sean Erickson recorded 12 saves on 26 shots faced.
Midland (0-3) will take on Mount Vernon Nazarene in a neutral-site nonconference game in Upland, Ind., on Saturday, March 8, at noon.
