Warriors Open Spring Season at Crestview Invite
WICHITA, Kan. – Midland University returned from winter break to open the spring season at the Crestview Spring Invitational in Wichita, Kansas. The Warriors placed seventh out of 12 teams in the two-day, 54-hole tournament hosted by Friends University at Crestview Country Club.
Janlo Zaayman paced the Warriors individually, finishing tied for 18th out of 68 golfers. Zaayman carded seven birdies over his three rounds and shot a 4-over 76 and a 2-over 74 in his first two rounds before finishing with a 3-over 75 to end the tournament at 9-over 225.
Trevin Cunningham followed, finishing 26th at 16-over 232. Cunningham opened the event with a 4-over 76 before closing with rounds of 6-over 78 in each of the final two rounds.
Midland's next best finisher was Brady Davis. Davis opened with a 15-over 87 but rebounded with Midland's best round of the tournament, shooting even-par 72 in the second round after recording three birdies. He finished with a 6-over 78 in the final round to end the event at 21-over 237 and place 33rd.
Jaylin Jakub and Jude Walz rounded out Midland's lineup. Jakub finished 51st with a total score of 32-over 248, while Walz tied for 54th at 34-over 250.
Isaiah Weber and Cole Dryak also made the trip but competed as individuals. Weber tied for 54th at 34-over 250, while Dryak placed 56th with a score of 36-over 252.
Midland will return to action on March 16-17 at the Doane Spring Invitational in Lincoln, Nebraska.
