Warriors Finish Fifth at GPAC Tournament
BEATRICE, Neb. – Midland University wrapped up its season at the 2025 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Men's Golf Championship this week at Beatrice Country Club. After a strong opening round, the Warriors finished fifth out of 11 teams with a three-round total of 902 (+38). Northwestern College won the team title with a 54-hole total score of 851 (-13).
Ben Ngelingkong led Midland in the opening round, firing an even-par 72 to help the Warriors sit in fourth place after day one. The second round saw the team slip to fifth following a combined score of 304 (+16), with Janlo Zaayman carding the best round for Midland at 1-over 73.
The Warriors rebounded in the final round, again posting a team score of 299 (+11) to hold their spot in fifth. Zaayman highlighted the day with a stellar 3-under 69 that featured five birdies and an eagle on the par-5 ninth hole.
Northwestern College ran away with the team title, winning by 38 strokes with a three-round score of 851 (-13). The Red Raiders earned the GPAC's automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship.
Individually, Zaayman vaulted seven spots on the leaderboard with his final round, finishing in seventh place at 219 (+3) and earning a spot on the All-GPAC Tournament Team. Ngelingkong placed 13th with a total score of 224 (+8), followed by Jacob Hellman in 18th at 227 (+11). Trevin Cunningham finished 25th at 232 (+16), while Billy Lyons rounded out the lineup in 33rd with a 237 (+21).
