Warriors Place Third at Sand Creek Invite

NEWTON, Kan. – Midland University returned to competition this week, taking part in the Sand Creek Invitational on Monday and Tuesday in Newton, Kansas. The Warriors shot well in the two-day, three-round event, finishing third out of nine teams with a total score of +42.

Out of 53 total golfers, Billy Lyons led the way for Midland. He placed sixth overall, opening with an even-par 72 before carding rounds of 1-over 73 and 5-over 77. Lyons finished with a 6-over 222 and totaled seven birdies across his three rounds.

Ben Ngelingkong climbed 11 spots on the leaderboard in the final round to finish ninth with a 7-over 223. He opened the tournament with a 6-over 78 and a 3-over 75 before closing with a strong 2-under 70, which included three birdies.

Brady Davis tied for 17th place, shooting a pair of 2-over 74s in the first two rounds. He followed with a 6-over 78 in the final round to finish at 10-over 226.

Rounding out the lineup were Luke Friedrichsen, who finished 24th with a 19-over 235, and Spencer Wishon, who placed 43rd with a 32-over 248.

The Warriors will return to action at the Great Plains Athletic Conference Men's Championship, set for April 21-22 in Beatrice, Nebraska.
