Warriors Finish Fourth at Nebraska Intercollegiate
HASTINGS, Neb. – Midland University returned to the golf course on Friday and Saturday, competing in the Nebraska Intercollegiate at Lochland Country Club. The Warriors, who were tied for the lead after day one, faced challenging windy conditions on Saturday and ultimately finished fourth in the team event, posting a total score of 593 (+17).
Midland's top golfer for the event was Janlo Zaayman, who finished with a 142 (-2) over two rounds, earning a tie for third place, just one shot behind the individual winner. Zaayman opened with a 70 (-2) in the first round on Friday, highlighted by an eagle on the first hole and five birdies. He shot an even-par second round, falling just one stroke short of the individual title.
Among the other Warriors, Trevin Cunningham finished 22nd with a score of 151 (+7), recording two birdies in each round. Ben Ngelingkong tied for 24th, scoring 153 (+9) after carding an eagle on the first hole of his second round. Billy Lyons tied for 28th with a score of 155, while Jacob Hellman finished just one stroke behind Lyons, shooting a 156 (+12) to tie for 31st.
Hastings College captured the team title, shooting under par as a team on the second day to finish with a total score of 579 (+3). The individual title went to Thomas Gatlin of Bellevue University, who posted under-par rounds on both days to finish at 141 (-3).
The Warriors will return to action on October 14-15 for the Battle at the Dance in Windsor, Colorado, at Raindance National Golf Club.
