Warriors Win Mount Marty Invite; Ngelingkong Records Ace

YANKTON, S.D. – Midland University was back on the course this week participating in the Mount Marty Invite in Yankton, South Dakota at the Tatanka Golf Course. After tough and windy conditions on the first day, Midland kept its composure and won the team event shooting 607 (+31) between the two days with the top three individual golfers all being Warriors.

Ben Ngelingkong was the leader of the pack and won the individual event shooting 150 (+6) between the two days. On day two, he hit a hole-in-one on the 8th hole, leading to a round of 71 (-1) for the day.

The Warriors had seven participants in the event with all of them placing individually in the top 14. Following Ngelingkong in the medalist positions were Janlo Zaayman and Billy Lyons. Zaayman finished three behind the leader, shooting 153 (+9) while shooting 71 (-1) on the second day during calmer conditions. Lyons fell just behind Zaayman in third, one shot back after shooting 77 (+5) both days to earn a final score of 154 (+10).

Of the other Midland golfers at the event, Cole Wilson shot 160 (+16) and placed eighth while Trevin Cunningham finished 11th with a 165 (+21). Cunningham had a rough first day in the tricky conditions but shot well on the second day, tying the top two Warriors for the event's best second round with a 71 (-1). Rounding out the event for the Warriors, Brady Davis and Tylen Jakob both tied for 11th, shooting 165 (+21) for the event.

 Midland will be back in action on October 4 and 5 at the Nebraska Intercollegiate in Hastings, Nebraska. The two-day event is set to begin on Friday morning at Lochland Country Club.
