Warriors Place Sixth in Season-Opening Event

LINCOLN, Neb. – Midland University started its season at the Blue River Classic at the Highlands Golf Course in Lincoln, Nebraska this week. The Warriors placed sixth as a team with a score of 882 (+18) through 52 holes, with three golfers placing in the top 20.

Midland started slowly with a 299 (+11) in the first round but was able to move up in the standings after shooting 290 (+2) in the second and 293 (+5) in the third.

Janlo Zaayman led the Warriors' team and finished tied for 15th overall in a field of 83 with a 219 (+3) while Ben Ngelingkong and Billy Lyons were close behind him, both shooting 220 (+4) and tied for 19th.

Rounding out the Midland lineup was Cole Wilson with a 223 (27th, +7), and Jacob Hellman with a 239 (65th, +23). Spencer Wishon finished 43rd with a 227 (+11) while playing as an individual.

Indian Hills Community College dominated the event with a score of 832 (-32) as a team to win the tournament by 34 strokes. Indian Hills also claimed the top four individual places including the top two golfers both shooting 206 (-10).

The Warriors will be back in action on September 23-24 at the NAIA Midwest Invitational. The event will take place at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois.
