Warriors Place Seventh at Mid-States Championship
WICHITA, Kan. – Midland University continued its season in Wichita, Kansas, over the weekend as it competed in the Mid-States Championships. With the top eight teams advancing to bracket play, the Warriors were on the edge of the cut line in eighth place with three baker games to go. They finished strong to secure the No. 7 seed with a total pinfall of 8,918 before falling in the first round to second-seeded Newman University.
Individually, Cole Macaluso led the Warriors with an 18th-place finish out of 316 bowlers. He recorded a total pinfall of 1,228 and averaged 204.7 over six games. Macaluso opened with scores of 243 and 225, bowled three games under 200, and closed with a strong 214.
Kaeden White was next for Midland, rolling four games over 190. He finished with a total pinfall of 1,156 and an average of 192.7 to place 39th. Nolan Pepper placed 65th with four games over 190 and an average of 184.5.
Christopher Taliva'a finished 170th after bowling four games and averaging 196. Michael Saxton placed 215th with a three-game average of 204. Rounding out the Midland competitors were Cephus Beatty, who averaged 175.3 over three games, and Jack Pearson, who averaged 171.5 in two games.
The Warriors will return to competition on Nov. 1-2 at the Donna Hogan and Mike Munstermann Memorial Tournament in Hastings, Nebraska.
