Warriors Roll to 6th Place Finish at Mid-States Championships
WICHITA, Kan. – Midland University returned to the lanes this past weekend, competing in the Mid-States Championships, hosted by Wichita State and Newman University. After qualifying for bracket play in 6th place, the Warriors faced 3rd-seeded Oklahoma Christian in the first round of the eight-team, single-elimination bracket.
The Warriors finished day one in 11th place, just 66 pins shy of the top eight, with a score of 5744 over six team games. By the end of qualifying on Sunday, Midland had earned 6th place with a total score of 8950 across 46 games, securing a spot in the eight-team bracket.
In the first round of bracket play, Midland fell 3-1 to third-seeded Oklahoma Wesleyan in a best-of-five series, concluding their weekend in 6th place out of 32 teams and 2nd place among NAIA schools. Savannah College of Art and Design finished 4th overall.
Individually, Brandon Ogden was Midland's top performer, scoring 1281 across six games with an average of 213.5 per game, earning him 10th place out of 326 bowlers. Casey Upton also had a solid showing, finishing 66th with a total of 1096 pins and an average of 182.7.
Midland's next competition will be the Bronco Open in Hastings, Nebraska on November 2-3.
