Trio of Warriors Selected to All-GPAC

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) announced the 2021-22 Men's Basketball All-Conference honors and awards today. Midland University's Laurence Merritt, Bo Sandquist, and Ryan Larsen were recognized by the conference's coaches.

Merritt, a super-senior from Chicago, Illinois, earned a spot on the All-GPAC Second Team. This season he averaged 16.8 points along with 3.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists in his final season. This year he joined the 1,000-point club and finishes with 1,386 career points (16th most in Midland history). Laurence had previously been selected as an honorable mention twice in his career.

Sandquist, a senior from Johnston, Iowa, was also named to the All-GPAC Second Team. He had averages of 16.2 points and 6.2 rebounds this season. In addition to becoming the all-time leader in made three-pointers this season (323), he tied the single-game mark with nine made threes back on December 29, 2021. Last season he reached the 1,000-point mark and with his scoring this season, he ranks 13th in program history (1,471). Bo was named an honorable mention last season and was a second-team member his sophomore season.

Larsen, a freshman from Omaha, Nebraska, had a stellar first season as a Warrior. He played in all 30 games, earning 16 starts in his first season on campus. He was fourth on the team in scoring with 10.8 points per game and added 3.9 rebounds, which was second-most. His game progressed throughout the year with 11 games in double-figures during conference play, including a season- and career-high of 29 in the final game.
