Warriors Compete in Sting Showdown

LAMONI, Iowa – (RV) Midland University competed in the Spring Sting Showdown, hosted by Graceland University at Huntsman Field, on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors recorded a 25-0 victory over Texas Wesleyan University and defeated Hesston College, 39-0.

Midland 25, Texas Wesleyan 0

Against the Rams, Midland scored all of its points in the first half, finding the end zone once in the first quarter and three times in the second.

The Warriors ran 45 plays for 247 yards of total offense. Midland completed 25 of 39 passes for 241 yards and rushed six times for six yards. Texas Wesleyan (2-4) ran 41 plays for 88 yards. The Rams completed 9 of 25 passes for 74 yards and rushed 16 times for 14 yards.

Individually for Midland, Lotta Wulff completed 18 of 24 passes for 200 yards with four touchdowns and one interception. Emma Rodriguez carried the ball twice for 11 yards. Alyssa Butler had five receptions for 50 yards. Holiness Hodges caught six passes for 49 yards and a touchdown. Emily Ferron added three receptions for 37 yards and a score. Allaya Livingston had four catches for 32 yards and a touchdown, while Melanie Archuleta recorded two receptions for 30 yards and a touchdown.

For the Rams, Destinee Hernandez completed 9 of 22 passes for 74 yards with one interception. Mikaela Nunez carried four times for 25 yards, and Vaughn Aden had three receptions for 34 yards.

Defensively, Melanie Archuleta recorded five flag pulls. Emily Ferron added two stops and an interception. Vaughn Aden led the Rams with five stops.

Midland 39, Hesston 0

Midland defeated Hesston, 39-0. The Warriors ran 44 plays for 301 yards of total offense, completing 25 of 41 passes for 317 yards while rushing three times for minus-16 yards. Hesston totaled 54 plays for 237 yards, completing 27 of 47 passes for 247 yards and rushing seven times for minus-10 yards.

Individually for the Warriors, Lotta Wulff completed 18 of 28 passes for 243 yards with five touchdowns and one interception. Karina Alfaro went 7 of 13 for 74 yards and a touchdown. Melanie Archuleta led the receiving corps with five catches for 103 yards and a touchdown. Olivia Dominguez-Millsop recorded six receptions for 96 yards and a score. Emily Ferron added three catches for 72 yards and a touchdown, while Allaya Livingston had five receptions for 57 yards and a score. Holiness Hodges added a 28-yard touchdown reception.

For Hesston, Alexis Pabon completed 25 of 40 passes for 162 yards with three interceptions. Vari Rua had one carry for one yard, and Akiva Brown totaled seven receptions for 143 yards.

Defensively, Midland was led by NaTaija Blaylock with two flag pulls. Holiness Hodges recorded one stop and an interception, while Melanie Archuleta also added an interception.

For Hesston, Emma Pffannenstiel recorded 1.5 flag pulls, and Trinity Garcia added an interception.

Midland (11-5) returns to action in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament, scheduled for April 24-25.
