Warriors Shut Out Cottey in KCAC Action
NEVADA, Mo. – Midland University traveled to take on Cottey College in a midweek Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) matchup on Wednesday evening. The Warriors blanked the Comets, 13-0, in a game played at Nevada High School.
The scoring opened with just two seconds remaining in the first quarter as Angel Ioane Kaio connected with Morgan Kalisek on a 19-yard touchdown pass. The conversion attempt was unsuccessful, but Midland took a 6-0 lead into the second quarter.
Midland extended its lead late in the fourth quarter. With 6:12 remaining in the game, Ioane Kaio found Emily Ferron for a 3-yard touchdown strike. The duo also completed the ensuing conversion, pushing the Warriors' lead to 13-0, which held as the final score.
With the win, Midland improves to 7-6 overall and 3-4 in KCAC play, earning its second straight victory. Cottey drops to 2-8 both overall and in conference competition. The Comets will host Bethel College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Midland (7-6, 4-4 KCAC) returns to action on Monday, April 14, traveling to North Newton, Kansas to face Bethel (0-9, 0-8 KCAC). Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Thresher Stadium.
