Bio

Zack Bowman joined the Midland staff prior to the 2019 season and serves as the defensive backs coach. Bowman spent two seasons coaching at Omaha Northwest High School before joining the Warriors’ staff.

Prior to beginning his coaching career, Bowman spent eight seasons playing in the National Football League (NFL). Bowman, a cornerback from the University of Nebraska, was drafted in the fifth round (overall pick No. 142) by the Chicago Bears. He spent six seasons (2008-13) with the Bears organization (briefly signed to the Minnesota Vikings in 2012) before finishing his career by playing one season with the New York Giants (2014) and Miami Dolphins (2015).

Bowman spent three seasons in the Nebraska Cornhuskers program after attending New Mexico Military Institute. Following a successful junior season in 2005 (11 games, 27 total tackles, two interceptions), his would-be senior season was cut short before it began in 2006 as he suffered a torn ACL during fall camp. He would redshirt that season before returning to the field in 2007. He played in 11 games in his final season and finished with 29 total tackles and an interception.

Bowman grew up on an Air Force base in Anchorage, Alaska, and graduated from Bartlett High School in 2003. He is a native of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina.
