Five Warriors Earn NECC Academic All-Conference Honors
FREMONT, Neb. – The National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) announced its 2024–25 Academic All-Conference selections last week, recognizing student-athletes who have excelled both in the classroom and in competitive gaming. Midland University had five student-athletes honored for their academic achievements.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher. This year, 473 student-athletes from 38 NECC institutions earned the distinction.
Representing the Warriors on the Academic All-Conference list are:
- Oliver Kock – Freshman, League of Legends
- Payton McDermott – Senior, Overwatch 2
- Kaylee Taylor – Freshman, Overwatch 2
- KeRon Blackwell – Senior, Rocket League
- Luke Buffington – Senior, Rocket League
Midland University Esports competes across multiple NECC titles, with teams consistently advancing to postseason play. The academic recognition further underscores the program's commitment to developing well-rounded student-athletes.
