eSports Spring Preview
FREMONT, Neb. – The Midland University eSports team has been prepping for their spring schedule the past month and are anxious to get things going in the next few weeks. Midland competes in three games for eSports this year; League of Legends, Hearthstone and Overwatch.
Earlier this month the team was part of a feature story on NET Television's "Nebraska Stories". The story, "New Frontier, New Athlete", first aired on February 1st and can be viewed online here.
The team has also welcomed several area high school gaming clubs to campus this semester and has also been making public appearances to educate people about collegiate eSports.
On March 3-4, Midland will be traveling to Des Moines, Iowa to take on Grand View University in their first face-to-face competition. The Warriors and Vikings will square off several times over the weekend.
Other upcoming events include the start of the 2018 spring season for Heartstone in March. The team will be competing in the NACE tournament soon. The Overwatch team will be competing in a face-to-face match with Morningside College at the NETWAR LANFest on March 16-17. The event is held in Omaha and raises money for local non-profits.
