Midland eSports Weekly Recap: Nov. 3rd-9th
FREMONT, Neb. – Midland University finished off their fall tournaments over the week. Overwatch and Hearthstone both finished their TESPA tournaments while the Overwatch team also wrapped competition in NACE.
In the NACE tournament they lost their final match to St. Louis School of Pharmacy 2-0.
"Our players put up a good fight in the game but ultimately fell just short of victory," stated coach Ben Nabity. "Jordan Williams did an exceptional job of stepping up an providing leadership to the team."
The Warriors finished with a 2-5 record in the prelims in Group A.
In Overwatch-TESPA they concluded their 10 game fall tournament with a 2-8 record. They fell to Lawrence University and Southern Illinois-Edwardsville in their final two games last week.
Hearthstone finished with a 3-4 record in their fall season and did not advance out of the group stage. Their last three matches were forfeits with Midland earning the win in two of them and dropping the last.
To cap off the fall season, Midland hosted an Overwatch live event at the Buffalo Wild Wings in Fremont. They showed some of the game action on the screens while current students interacted with recruits and supports.
"It was a very successful night," coach Nabity said. "We are looking to host a few more of these events in order for our players to interact with those who may not know much about our sport."
The Warriors will have some time off now as they prepare for their next round of tournaments. Starting in January Hearthstone will kick back up as will League of Legends.
