Midland eSports Weekly Recap: Oct. 11-17

FREMONT, Neb. – Midland University's eSports teams continued play in three tournaments this past week. Right now the Warriors are in the midst of Hearthstone Training Grounds, Tespa Collegiate Series (Overwatch) and the preliminary rounds of NAC Overwatch Invitational.

Hearthstone currently holds a 1-3 match record and is 5-11 in games played. They lost an exciting match to Regis University on Tuesday night, 3-0. The random nature of the game's strategies favored their opponent this week. Up next for the Warriors is University of Pikeville at 9 p.m. on Tuesday.

In the Tespa Collegiate Series for Overwatch, Midland just completed round three of the group state. They fell to University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire 2-0. They are now 0-4 in matches, 0-8 in games with three rounds left. They'll take on Algonquin College on Thursday night at 6:30 p.m.

Midland's final active tournament is the NAC Overwatch Invitational. They are in Group A and have a 1-3 record. Last Monday they fell to Georgia Southern 2-0. Next up for the Warriors is a matchup with Stephens College at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.

It has been a busy start to the seasons with three competitions taking place. The Overwatch team is getting lots of action with the two simultaneous tournaments and have been learning a lot.

There was a great turnout this past week for the public unveiling of the eSports Arena. During the event fans were able to check out the 20 station arena where Midland trains and competes. There was even some Pac-Man being played by local celebrities and alumni not to mention Midland gamers showcasing the games they compete in.
