Warriors Claim Top Spot in Home Invite

FREMONT, Neb. – Midland University opened its season on Saturday afternoon, hosting the annual Midland Invitational inside the Wikert Event Center. The Warriors welcomed teams from Columbia College and Baker University.

Midland earned top marks with a score of 82.82, including 1.75 points in deductions. Columbia placed second with a score of 64.55, while Baker finished third with 61.53.

"Today I am proud. Proud of a team that cares," commented head coach Kayla Rojas. "Proud of the hard work that has led up to this day and proud of their small and large successes. This year's team is very new, and I wasn't sure what to expect when it came to performing in front of such a crowd. But they turned it on! There are definitely some fixes and fine-tuning I want to see going into tomorrow. But for their first time out, they did not disappoint and I am excited to continue to see growth throughout our season."

The Warriors will have a quick turnaround as they travel to Des Moines, Iowa, to compete in the Grand View Challenge on Sunday, January 26.
