No. 4 Warriors Open Pool Play with Win Over No. 9 Indiana Tech
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – No. 4-ranked Midland University opened pool play in the 2025 ACHA Women's Division 1 Championship on Monday morning with a matchup against No. 9 Indiana Institute of Technology. In a battle of Warriors, Midland came away with a 3-1 victory over Indiana Tech inside Plager Arena.
Midland struck first in the opening period as Callie Maguire netted a goal at the 11:13 mark. The goal was assisted by Makenna Larson. The lead was extended in the second period as Grace Page found the back of the net at 8:46, with an assist from Darbi Poole.
Indiana Tech responded at 15:14 of the second period with its first goal but Midland quickly responded. MU regained a two-goal advantage with a power-play goal from Poole at 16:42 with by Larson assisting.
Midland's defense held strong in the third period, thwarting off each attempt by Indiana Tech. Natalie Rampton made 13 saves in the contest to secure the win while her counterpart finished with 28 saves.
Midland will continue its national tournament run against No. 5 Minot State on Tuesday, March 18. Puck drop is set for 10:00 a.m.
