No. 4 Warriors Dominate Series to End Road Trip

PHOENIX, Ariz. – No. 4-ranked Midland University wrapped up a dominant weekend sweep of Grand Canyon University at AZ Ice Arcadia in Phoenix, Arizona. The Warriors showcased their offensive firepower and defensive resilience, earning a 7-0 shutout on Saturday and cruising to a 9-1 victory on Sunday.

Saturday: Midland 7, Grand Canyon 0

The Warriors opened the weekend with a commanding 7-0 win over the Antelopes. Midland's offense exploded early, with Grace Page netting a power-play goal at 6:51 of the first period, assisted by Brooke Barylski. Just 15 seconds later, Makara Magbanua doubled the lead off a pass from Molly McMurrich. Page struck again less than two minutes later, with Jaicee Huberdeau tallying the assist.

Midland maintained momentum throughout the period, capping it with a buzzer-beater by Page, completing her hat trick. Darbi Poole and Taylor Bell provided the assists.

In the second period, McMurrich scored her first goal of the game at 17:43. The Warriors added two more goals in the third period, with Poole and Magbanua finding the back of the net. Magbanua's goal came on a short-handed effort, highlighting Midland's versatility.

Goaltender Meghan Stewart was stellar in net, stopping all 10 shots she faced to secure the shutout.

SUNDAY: Midland 9, Grand Canyon 1

Midland completed the sweep with a dominant 9-1 victory on Sunday, powered by Callie Maguire's hat trick and outstanding special teams play. Maguire opened the scoring late in the first period with a power-play goal assisted by Makenna Larson and Jaicee Huberdeau. She added two more goals in the second period, including another power-play tally, to extend Midland's lead to 5-1.

The second period saw the Warriors erupt for six goals. Ava Matthews-McCulley and Brooke Barylski each contributed to the scoring frenzy, with Matthews-McCulley notching her second goal in the third period. Rylee Martin added a late goal to seal the emphatic win.

Goaltender Natalie Rampton turned aside 12 shots to earn the victory. The Warriors converted three of seven power-play opportunities and held Grand Canyon to just one goal over the weekend, underscoring their defensive strength.

Up next, Midland (20-6) will return to the ice this weekend to host Jamestown (7-15-3). Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Saturday and 12:00 p.m. on Sunday. Saturday's game will be the Warriors' "Face Off Against Cancer" Night, raising awareness for cancer.
