No. 1 Warriors Split Weekend Top Ten Series with No. 10 Indiana Tech

FREMONT, Neb. – No. 1-ranked Midland University welcomed No. 10-ranked Indiana Tech for Homecoming weekend on Friday and Saturday evening. In a battle of top ten teams, Midland endured a challenging defeat on Friday night, falling 3-2 in overtime for their first loss of the season. On Saturday, Midland bounced back in game two, securing a 2-1 victory to split the weekend Women's Midwest College Hockey (WMCH) league series.

FRIDAY: Indiana Tech 3, Midland 2 (OT)

Midland capitalized on an early power play in the first period when Darbi Poole scored a goal, assisted by Makenna Larson, putting Midland ahead 1-0 at the 9:35 mark. Indiana Tech quickly responded in the second period, scoring two consecutive goals to take a 2-1 lead. Grace Page then tied the game at 2-2, with assists from Rylan Martin and Darbi Poole. With the score knotted at the end of regulation, Indiana Tech struck first in overtime at the 2:48 mark, securing a 3-2 victory and handing Midland their first loss of the season. Meghan Stewart played in goal for Midland, making 20 saves, while Indiana Tech's goalkeeper recorded 35 saves.

SATURDAY: Midland 2, Indiana Tech 1

Midland took an early lead when Brynn Tosh scored, assisted by Katie McNair, at the 11:59 mark to make it 1-0. They extended their advantage during a power play shortly after, with Makara Magbanua finding the net, assisted by Grace Page and Keagan Shearer at the 8:46 mark. After a scoreless second period, Indiana Tech got on the board in the third at the 3:07 mark, but Midland held off their efforts to secure a 2-1 victory. Midland significantly outshot Indiana Tech, 52-11, with Natalie Rampton making 10 saves in goal for Midland.

Midland (7-1, 6-0 WMCH) will travel to Minot, North Dakota, to face Minot State (4-2, 2-2) next weekend for a two-game series. Games are set for 3:45 p.m. on Saturday and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 26 and 27.
