No. 25 Warriors Battle Back for Saturday Win to Split Series with Iowa State

FREMONT, Neb. — No. 25 Midland University hosted Iowa State for a weekend series. The Warriors fell 3-2 on Friday and bounced back Saturday with a 4-1 victory.

FRIDAY: Iowa State 3, Midland 2

Midland got on the board first with an early power-play goal by Lasse Richert, assisted by Jared Wisley, at the 3:50 mark. The Cyclones responded with a power-play goal of their own at 7:49 to even the score at 1-1 at the end of the first period.

Iowa State took the lead in the second period with another power-play goal at 12:04 to make it 2-1 heading into the third.

The Warriors tied it back up early in the third as Jared Wisley found the back of the net, assisted by Ethan Brown, to make it 2-2. The Cyclones regained the lead at 10:31 and held off Midland's late push to hand the Warriors a tough 3-2 loss.

Goaltender Elijah Marchese played the full 60 minutes, recording 19 saves.

Midland outshot Iowa State 43-22.

SATURDAY: Midland 4, Iowa State 1

Isaac Hood put the Warriors on the board first with a goal at 8:42, assisted by Albin Augustsson, to take an early 1-0 lead. Parker McInroy added to the tally with a goal at 13:49, assisted by John Dube and Hudson Dilworth. The Cyclones scored before the end of the period at 17:56 as Midland led 2-1 after one.

The Warriors carried the momentum into the second period with an early power-play goal at 4:47 by Karl Grafelman, assisted by Matthew O'Doherty and Ethan Brown, to make it 3-1 after two periods.

Brown sealed the game with an empty-net goal, assisted by Liam Tereposky, as Midland earned the 4-1 victory.

Tereposky played the full 60 minutes in goal, making 15 saves.

Midland (3-11) will travel to Waldorf University for a weekend series on Saturday and Sunday. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. on Nov. 15 and 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 16 in Albert Lea, Minnesota.
