No. 25 Warriors Fall in Overtime, Drop Weekend Series to No. 7 Drury
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — No. 25 Midland University traveled to Springfield, Missouri, to face No. 7 Drury University in a weekend series. The Warriors fell in overtime on Friday and suffered a 6-3 loss on Saturday.
Friday: Drury 1, Midland 0 (OT)
Both teams battled throughout the game, which remained scoreless through all three periods and went into overtime. Drury outshot Midland 13-8 in the first period and 15-9 in the second, while Midland held a 7-4 edge in the third. Both goaltenders stayed strong to keep the game tied 0-0 through regulation.
The Panthers broke through just 51 seconds into overtime, handing Midland a tough 1-0 loss.
Liam Tereposky played the full 60:51 in goal, recording 33 saves on the night.
Saturday: Drury 6, Midland 3
Drury struck first in the opening period with a goal at the 6:50 mark to take a 1-0 lead after the first.
The Warriors found the equalizer early in the second period on a power play as Karl Grafelman found the back of the net, assisted by Tommy Babb, at the 18:53 mark. The Panthers responded with two late goals at 8:35 and 1:14 to lead 3-1 heading into the final period.
Drury came out strong in the third, scoring three goals at 18:16, 16:08. Parker McInroy responded with a goal with an assist by Grafelman at the 11:12 mark. The Panthers net another goal at 6:10 to extend the lead to 6-2. The Warriors tallied the final goal of the game when John Dube scored 47 seconds into the period, assisted by Hudson Dilworth, but it wasn't enough as Midland fell 6-3.
Drury outshot Midland 31-24 overall. Tereposky played the full 60 minutes in goal, finishing with 25 saves.
Midland (2-10) will host Iowa State (4-9-1) for a weekend series Nov. 7–8. Puck drop is scheduled for 8 p.m. Friday and 7 p.m. Saturday.
