Midland Drops Pair of Games at Maryville

CHESTERFIELD, Mo. — Midland University opened its first road trip of the season with a weekend series against Maryville University. The Warriors dropped both games, falling 1-0 on Friday and 4-0 on Saturday night.

Friday: Maryville 1, Midland 0

The first period was scoreless as the Saints outshot the Warriors 19-4.

The lone goal came early in the second period when Maryville found the back of the net at the 4:19 mark.

The Saints controlled play the rest of the way, finishing with a 44-20 advantage in shots on goal.

Saturday: Maryville 4, Midland 0

Saturday's matchup also began with a scoreless first period, with Maryville holding a 9-6 edge in shots.

The Saints struck twice early in the second period, scoring at 5:07 and 6:34 to build a 2-0 lead. They then capitalized on power-play opportunities with two goals just 17 seconds apart, at 10:55 and 11:12, to push the margin to 4-0.

Midland was unable to recover, as penalties proved costly in the 4-0 defeat. Maryville outshot the Warriors 38-16.

Midland (1-3) returns to action next weekend with a two-game series at Jamestown (1-0-1) on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 26–27, in Jamestown, North Dakota. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m. puck drops.
