No. 19 Warriors Swept by No. 17 UMary in Weekend Series

BISMARCK, N.D. – No. 19-ranked Midland University men's hockey team dropped both games in a weekend road series against No. 17-ranked University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota. The Warriors fell 6-3 in Friday's opener and 3-1 on Saturday.

FRIDAY: UMary 6, Midland 3

In Friday's matchup, the Marauders struck first with a power-play goal in the opening period, taking a 1-0 lead into the first intermission. UMary extended the advantage in the second, but Midland quickly responded at the 4:05 mark as Jared Wisely scored, assisted by Ethan Brown, to make it a one-goal game. However, UMary reclaimed momentum with another goal before the period ended, carrying a 3-1 lead into the third. Early in the final period, the Marauders added two more goals, widening the gap. Midland's Tommy Babb cut into the deficit with a power-play goal at 13:03, with assists from Mathew Kochanowski and Zak Justice, but UMary answered back with a third power-play score. Milan Breczko netted an unassisted goal with 2:23 remaining, closing out the 6-3 game. The Marauders outshot the Warriors 40-25, with Midland's Liam Tereposky making 34 saves.

SATURDAY: UMary 3, Midland 1

On Saturday, the Warriors opened the scoring as Kochanowski netted an unassisted power-play goal midway through the first period. Midland held a 1-0 lead until early in the second when UMary tied the game and later pulled ahead with another power-play goal at the 12:04 mark. Despite Midland's efforts, the Marauders' defense held strong, adding a third goal in the final period to secure a 3-1 victory and complete the sweep. Tereposky recorded 24 saves as Midland was narrowly outshot, 27-25.

Midland (8-9) will look to rebound with a pair of home games next weekend with No. 2 Minot State (10-1). The Warriors and Beavers will drop the puck at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights inside Sidner Ice Arena. The opening night, November 15, will be Military Night with special events and jerseys worn by the Warriors.
