Warriors Tabbed Fourth in Preseason GPAC Poll
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) has announced its preseason baseball coaches' poll. Concordia University totaled 98 points and is the preseason pick to win the 2025 GPAC Baseball Championship. Midland University was picked fourth in the poll voted on by the conference's head coaches.
A season ago, the Warriors went 16-12 in GPAC play and finished fifth. In the postseason they reached the finals of the Concordia Bracket and forced a deciding game against the eventual champions. Several players return from last year's team that went 33-19 overall.
Filling in the top half of the GPAC Preseason Poll, Doane was picked second followed by Morningside. Mount Marty garnered the fifth spot followed by Northwestern. The final five teams in the bottom half were Briar Cliff, Dakota Wesleyan, Waldorf, Hastings, and Dordt.
Midland will begin its season in Fort Worth, Texas on February 7-8 with games against Texas Wesleyan and Houston-Victoria. The Warriors will be on the road through the early stages of their schedule with trips to Louisiana, Kansas, and Florida before opening up their home slate. The 2025 Home Opener is slated for March 4 against Graceland.
Conference play gets underway in the middle of March with the top eight teams advancing to the GPAC Postseason Tournament. There will be two four-team tournaments (Seeds 1,4,5,8 and Seeds 2,3,6,7) (double elimination) on April 30 to May 2 at the sites of the top two seeds. Then the two tournament winners will play on Monday, May 5, in the GPAC Championship (one nine-inning game) at the highest remaining seed.
Points were awarded on a 10-1 basis and coaches could not vote for their own team.
